The Mad Scot, Bill Hamilton arrived at Rowley Lane armed with two trophies, both awarded to Hillingdon Borough whose form and on-field behaviour had appeared to have taken a distinct turn for the better this season. One was for the Division One Team of the Month for October, the other for topping the League’s Respect tables for November. Whether their Division One Cup quarter-final hosts London Lions looked on enviously one will never know but they set off at an electric pace, scoring four times inside the first 20 minutes. Hillingdon simply had no answers and had it not been for the heroics of their goalkeeper Dragos Stefinoaca, they would have found themselves in even deeper trouble by the interval. The Lions did not ease up in the second half, raining in another four goals and leaving Hillingdon wondering how an evening that had started on such a high note had turned into nothing short of a humiliating 8-1 defeat. Adam Burchell and Adam Bolle both netted a brace for the Lions. There were goals too from Austin Lipman, Jack Furman, Adam Lipman and Max Davis who, at 16, became the Lions youngest ever scorer in the Spartan South Midlands League. Hillingdon’s one consolation was a header from Jack Bustard.
